History: Corpse is from Byzantium, where he was raised by a dark cult and trained from childhood as an assassin. The cultists also used him as a conduit to a shadow dimension to someday host a demon. Since leaving the cult, he uses that connection to manipulate shadow magic, making him an even more dangerous killer.
Corpse joined the Cohort under false pretenses just after the Leonin Civil War. After completing a murder in Messina, he hid among the troops at the docks. He stole aboard one of the ships and it took almost a week before anyone realized no one knew who he was. Once the deception was revealed, the Captain offered him a choice- legitimately join the Cohort or face Imperial justice under his authority. Instead of putting his head on the block, Dancer decided to join up. He fully intended to flee at the earliest opportunity, but life with the Cohort holds a strange appeal and he never saw reason to leave.
What very few people know is thatCorpse is a woman. Initially, he kept her abilities a secret and was assigned to the infantry. He was tested during the stop in Sandpoint and infiltrated the city with Holy, Lotus and Goat. His performance earned connected him with the Immunes. Spook sensed his power and fought alongside him at the Dark Tower. Corpse revealed his shadow abilities during the battle, so Spook recommended him to the Immunes. Teach then revealed his gender to the Captain who then shared the information with the Primus Pilus. The rest of the Cohort thinks she is a man.
Relations with others: Dancer is very private and keeps to herself, but he is closest to Spook and Halfman. He shares their selfishness and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He is furthest from Slight, who is almost wholly selfless in his dedication to the Empire and the Legion. However, because of their skills, they are two most likely to be called upon to perform an assassination for the Legion.
